New and Improved Way of Natural Stone Restoration Technique

Marble scores around 3 whereas granite gets 6 or 7 on a scale for determining the relative hardness of a mineral according to its resistance to scratching (MOH scale). Thus, marble surface is susceptible to wear sooner than granite, but can be restored with honing and polishing.

The Marble Man team employs a new and improved way of stone restoration technique that protects and enhances the longevity and natural beauty of your beautiful stone surfaces. Our experienced technicians know how to reanimate even the most stained and dirty stone surface and are specialized in restoring, resurfacing, polishing, and sealing your marble, limestone, travertine, onyx or terrazzo surfaces. Our services also include excellent quality stone cleaning services, repairs on cracks or chips and stain removal.

Polished natural stone benchtops, bar tops and vanities can become dull, scratched and stained over time from cosmetics and incorrect cleaners.  These often look like white, dull marks that you cannot remove with cleaning.  These require professional restoration and polishing. The most common types of natural stone benchtops, bar tops and vanities we polish are marble, limestone, travertine, onyx and terrazzo.

We can also polish some reconstituted stone benchtops depending on the type of damage.  Granite is more difficult to polish but in some cases can be improved.

The stains generally look like dirty, dull ring and drip marks and can spoil the natural reflection of a marble or stone benchtop, bar top or vanity.  The benefit of having a natural stone benchtop or vanity is that it can be completely restored back to its original pristine condition.

The Marble Man uses the latest technology in diamond abrasives and polishing compounds to return a natural glossy, smooth finish to your marble, limestone, travertine, onyx and terrazzo kitchen benchtops, bar tops and vanities. We first grind the surface of the marble or stone benchtop or vanity to remove all stains and scratches.  We then use several grades of abrasives to achieve a smooth, uniform finish before using our special diamond abrasive polishing compound to return a brand new polished, smooth, natural reflection to the surface.

Benefits of The Marble Man's polishing and restoring works:
➡Removes unsightly dull stains, scratches and etch marks.

Natural Stone Cleaning: Commercial Cleaners vs. High Quality Marble Man Products

Why can’t I use commercial cleaners on my stone surface?
Natural stone contains a variety of minerals that can react adversely to some chemicals. Commercial cleaners often contain harmful chemicals that can disturb the delicate PH balance of the stone and the minerals and destroy the look and feel of your natural stone surface. Some cleaners that contain lemon or vinegar are acidic and can etch the stone surface.

The top quality stone soaps and cleaners used by The Marble Man are PH balanced and designed to gently penetrate porous surfaces and lift in-grained dirt.

SP Benchtop Cleaner
SP Cleaner everyday cleaner is great for stone benchtops. S-P Cleaner is an excellent neutral PH, everyday cleaner for your stone benchtops and floors. It will clean dirt and grime off the stone and leave surfaces fresh and sparkling.

Brilliance
Brilliance is a polishing cream and cleaner ideal for stone benchtops. Brilliance is a polishing cream and cleaner that adds lustre and enhances the natural beauty of sealed and polished benchtops, vanities and furniture (not high traffic areas like floors).

Benchtop Renew
Renue is a polishing and restoring cream that works best for stone benchtops. Renew is a polishing and restoring cream that restores the natural shine to dull, etched or lightly scratched, polished calcium based natural stone surfaces.

Nano Scrub Cream Cleanser
Use Nano Scrub stone cleaner for benchtops. Nano scrub is a specially designed abrasive stone cleaner designed to work where other cleaners won't. It utilizes Nano technology (extremely small sized particles) to penetrate below tough stains, dissolves and lifts them out. This product is great for 'Caesar Stone' and other reconstituted stone benchtops.

To avoid damage to your luxurious stone surfaces, use only recommended stone cleaning and maintenance products. To purchase any of these products, or to know specifically how to use them, you can make a free call to 1300 627 626 or visit The Marble Man website.

Preventative Stone Care Tips for Your Marble, Granite and Other Natural Stone Surfaces

People using natural stones are mainly worried about the maintenance requirements, but the fact is that natural stone countertops or floors need no more care & maintenance than natural wood products such as tables and chairs.

It’s better if you know your stone surface well and the maintenance needs it requires. A stone restoration specialist can guide you the precautions to be taken to avoid stains, wear and damage. Ask the stone care professionals about the daily and long term maintenance practices to be followed, and also the time schedule for resealing, repolishing or deep cleaning of stone surfaces.

Preventative care is what mostly needed for natural stones like marble, granite and travertine. Make sure that your stones are properly sealed with a penetrating sealer before installation. This will prevent staining to a certain extent and also will reduce the build up of moisture. Presealed stone surfaces are easier to clean too.  Topical sealers are not recommended because they do not prevent moisture to accumulate under the surface and sometimes affect the look of the stone.

Here Are Some Precautions and Preventative Care for Your Costly Stone:

Even though granite countertops are not susceptive to normal stains and scratches, they are prone to staining by oil and acid. Ensure to wipe up any spills on the countertops as soon as possible, and then clean the surface.

Don’t place acidic or chemical products such as wine, juice, vinegar, milk, tea or coffee on marble and limestone surfaces as these can etch or stain the surface. Use coasters.  Staining or etching can also be caused by high alkaline products such as aftershave, soap, shampoo and perfumes.
Grit on shoe can scratch a stone surface, so avoid using shoes on natural stone surfaces. Also use doormats which will gather dust and grit from shoes and slippers.

Use felt or any such soft pads under chairs and other furniture to avoid scratching. While moving furniture items, it’s advised to lift them rather than dragging to prevent scratching.

While cleaning natural stone, ensure to use Microfibre Mop or a cotton cloth to avoid scratching. If you want to use scourers, depend only on professionally recommended scouring products such as the Scrub-a-dub; other scourers can scratch the stone surface and spoil the glossy finish.

Natural Stone Cleaning

The best preventative measure for stone floors is regular cleaning with neutral PH cleaners such as S-P Cleaner, Stone Deep Clean, Brilliance or Renue. Wax based sprays are not to be used as they leave a build up on the surface. Dirt and grit on the marble or granite surface can affect its polished finish. Use recommended cleaning products only and do regular cleaning to preserve your beautiful stone surfaces.

Marble and granite in the bathrooms are affected by soap scum. This is to be prevented by regular cleaning using a squeegee for shower walls. Also rinse vanities and natural stone sinks with hot water whenever possible.
